Hiking, Outdoors, Camper

In This Guide:

Whether you’re loading up the SUV and heading out to the mountains, or you’re planning an overnight adventure with the kids in the backyard, camping is a fun experience for all who give it a try. Read below to see what wannabe campers may be thinking about, and how you can encourage them to pitch a tent and become one with nature.

They Might Be Thinking:

  • When will be a good time to go camping?
  • How will the weather be?
  • How long should I go camping for?
  • Will I be going camping alone or with family/friends?
  • Where can we go camping?
  • Is there a suitable park or will the backyard suffice?
  • What time should we leave to arrive at the camping site?
  • Are there any local, official camping sites?
  • What kind of camping equipment will be necessary for this trip?
  • Do I have the right necessities at home? Or will I have to purchase them?
  • Will it be safe to go camping in such areas?
  • Will it be a fun experience?

Words That Might Be Encouraging:

  • Have fun!
  • What a unique trip!
  • Camping with family and friends can give rise to a great bonding experience.
  • This trip will encourage you to break free from technology.
  • You will get to use your Girl Scout/Boy Scout skills.
  • You can make fireside s’mores.
  • Enjoy your adventures.
  • Be at one with nature.
  • After hiking in the forest, I developed a greater appreciation for being environmentally green.

Words That Might Be Discouraging:

  • You’ll get eaten by a bear.
  • You’ll return home with a ton of mosquito bites.
  • There are so many poisonous creatures in wildlife.
  • There’s no Wi-Fi.
  • What if you don’t have any service, but need to make an emergency phone call?
  • What if someone gets injured and the nearest point of civilization is 30+ miles away?
  • You can get hurt while hiking.
  • What if all plans fail, i.e., no camp fire, no food, etc.?
  • There’s no bathroom in the woods, so you may feel uncomfortable.
  • Camping gets messy, so you may feel gross/dirty.
